“New Music for Boomers” is a music discovery website designed for music lovers born during the baby boom. We welcome people of ALL ages; teenagers, young adults, and the middle-aged, but we are specifically focusing on Baby Boomers.
What do we consider ‘new music”? That’s a great question, so here is our interpretation; new music is essentially any music you have not heard before, but generally music from the mid 1990′s to today’s newest artists. Why? Simply because that’s when most of us stopped listening to the radio. We stopped
because radio stations that at one time marketed to us, the baby boomers, re-set their marketing focus to the younger generation, and played music that generally didn’t appeal to us. Because of this, most of us switched it off or changed the dial to other stations, stations that played Classic Rock, or alternatively,talk radio, or, in rare markets, alternative music. So most everything from the mid 90′s to now is pretty much new to us.
Why this type of website? Another good question. As self-admitted “Music Junkies”, and Baby Boomers, we recently arrived at three conclusions. 1) No one is marketing music to us anymore (the baby boom generation). 2) After listening to “Hotel California” and “Stairway to Heaven” and “Sultans of Swing” for the 10,000th time, we need to hear new music (cause we’re losing our minds). 3) Most Boomers probably think, like I did, that there isn’t any good, new music that will appeal to us.
OK, it turns out the first two are absolutely correct, the third one, not so much. In fact it turns out that there are some FANTASTIC new artists who are
creating exceptionally good music, we just had to find it.
And find it we did. In fact we found so much of it we felt we just had to share it with you.
So, within this website you will find regular Blogs that will help you discover new music, and other regular blogs that talk about a wide range of music related topics. You will also have the opportunity to recommend new artists or songs to us, plus we offer “The Music Man’s” Personal Wall of Fame selections, and a host of surveys just begging for your input. Oh yea, and everywhere you go in this website you will have an opportunity to join in on the conversation and have your “two cents” heard.
